Pei Shan is practising as an audiologist at Singapore General Hospital. She graduated from Master of Clinical Audiology in 2010 from University of Melbourne. Having served as president of Society for Audiology Professionals (Singapore) 2017 -2018, she is passionate about promoting hearing awareness that people with hearing impairment and their caregivers can have good quality of life through intervention such as aural rehabilitation and latest state of art technology.
A bulk of her role as an audiologist is to diagnose hearing loss and work with patient and their family using modern technology. This includes educating patient and family members about hearing loss and addressing misconceptions to provide good outcomes in the rehabilitation program. Another important part of her job is to ensure children have sufficient access to sounds so that they can develop spoken language. She works closely with auditory verbal therapists to support children with hearing loss and their family to provide holistic care.
Through clinical, research and education work, Pei Shan wish to understand impact and quality of life of people with hearing impairment and their caregivers with intervention such as aural rehabilitation and latest state of art technology of hearing aids and implants.
