Nikita Kamdar holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Speech & Hearing Sciences (Deaf Education) with a concentration in Early Oral Intervention from the United States. Prior to working with children with hearing loss, Nikita worked as a Behavior Therapist with children on the Autism Spectrum and realized the importance of parent training and involvement. Drawn to the philosophy of Auditory-Verbal therapy and its key focus on parent involvement, she went on to pursue her Masters Degree in the United States, where she gained valuable experience working with children with hearing loss in a school setting as well as at the renowned Listening Center at John’s Hopkins Hospital, providing therapy to adults and children with cochlear implants during her externship. Nikita was mentored by Cheryl Dickson and Dr. Christina Perigoe, both prominent people in the field of Auditory-Verbal Therapy.
Nikita has been practicing Auditory-Verbal Therapy at the Singapore General Hospital since 2014 and is one of the few Listening & Spoken Language Therapists in Singapore Certified in Auditory-Verbal Therapy. She has a keen interest in creating more awareness about the field by involving herself in local and international training programs in Singapore, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
